Database Drivers for Delpi 5

Postby friendlytoaster » March 9th, 2010, 9:15 pm

Hi,

I am looking to change the back-end database of our system. We currently use Delphi 5 with the BDE to access a Paradox Database.
We are looking to change to MS SQL 2008, unfortunately I cannot seem to put my hands on a BDE alternative which will work with Delphi 5 and MS SQL 2008. I have found a number of drivers which will work with MS SQL 2005 but none with 2008.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks
Eddie

Apparently no one.

I personally prefer to use MySQL. It's free, easy to install, low maintenance, and reliable.

ADO is the usual way to connect to SQL server. It looks like Timur Islamov's ADO component set is still available (written in the D5 era):

Why use MS SQL when you can use a very efficient free database solution?

Try PostGreSQL together with Zeos Lib - all open source!
