User activation can be done by Administrator, but it's easier for me to remove junk accounts later.

phpBB has no usefull options for filtering spams and spammers. Of course, some new interesting phpBB MODs are under development.

Do not spend time to see profile of the new users. I do it regularly.

Hellow! A word from your friendly mod & sub-admin here. A brand new word censors gone nutty, so probably you'll see some users describling themselves as dumb spammers, so don't despair as it's what they are... In extreme cases you can all come up with new ways of saying bad things.

So, now what? I think there should be a button in the user's page with a button that will enable the moderator to delete the account.

Nope, the real fun is admins'. but hey, isn't deleting spam fun?

And other thing: links cannot be censored for now, we can use word censor only for message text. But still pisses of spammers ;)

Oh, and you need to post also date of message, it helps with reporting spammers to their ISPs. Also one great address for any moderator dealing with spam: http://ripe.net/whois use it, embrace it. Whenever it's available report spammer to isps' abuse mail. remember, it works (at least here)

I can't quite follow how you inform ISP about the spammer. It's easy to delete a spam in this forum but the other workaround you mentioned sounds time costly. I can hardly find time to sleep these days...

edit: ok, I got what you meant. what do you exactly report to the abuse mail?

Well, it's simple, but, you know, I used to do that kind of stuff, if you want it, do something like this in e-mail:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to report spam coming from IP: (ip number) on (day in dd/mm/yyy) at (hh:mm:ss) by user naming himself as "username" on delphiarea.com forums. The content of messages was highly abusive, posted repeatedly, in various sub forums was removed as fast as possible and respective authorities are being informed. As a moderator on this forum I hereby pledge your most severe action against that voilator of internet rules.

Yours Sincerly
Your_Name

or something like that.

OK, test try for you if you want to do so. Report spammer#11:

oh, and while we're at it. sodomize their e-mail, so the jackass would feel the pain. Site can be sodomized too. macrobert@mail.ru

Man, it takes at least 10 mins to do that. And the result is questionable because:
1. they usually spam once, then leave (I guess "they" are bots)
2. their ISP doesn't give a s.... about them (in some countries).

I can delete the spam post. Just give me a button to delete their acount with a single click or automaticaly create the report you mentioned (apart from the who_is data).

2 mins actually, besides
1. Wrong. Multiple times, same IPs I see all around, besides couple of "them" from russian micronet of about 400 users
2. True, but where I live, spamer gets kicked hard before even notices, sometimes if it's micronet it gets personal.

Deleting users by mods is non-applicabe. Don't know why though... But I can let you know that i'm having a gas when dealing with spammers... Abuse is least I can do, but there is fun in doing evil to their mailboxes, sites they adversite, their boxes.... you know FUn

Ad their mail addresses are(respectively):
mail@topvideogalerz.info
m_mitchell-323@yahoo.com
jassn00ra@drugsmarket.info

Man, you're doing great job! Even when I got berserk 2 days ago when I deleted about 60 accounts and banned wild cards of mails you still managed to found another bunch of idiots that should be penciled for sudden and unexpected visit from angel of death.
