The worm!

Postby Kambiz » August 27th, 2003, 9:54 pm

Today when I arrived home and checked my mailbox, I got 305 new mails.

Well, 297 of them were the blaster, 5 of them spam, and just 3 of them were something that we call email. :x

It's several years, which my computer is not infected by any kind of virus or worm, but I'm sick and tired of receiving such emails.

If you have any idea that can be helpful to get rid of these emails, please let me know.

Thank you,
Kambiz

I got 5 ideas (thanks to this ideas i don't ever get spam):

1. DON'T use MS Outlook. Use something that is best (for sample Mozilla mail works for me)
2. DON'T give away your mail adress
3. Try to use alternative software (that is not popular, for sample you can use whole Mozilla to do all internet things, well 'cept icq ofcoz, but for icq you can use Miranda IM)
4. Use Good antivirus (it will be good if it too ware not-popular [i don't got sample for it. i still got NAV 2003]) and it newest virus base
5. Tell your friends (and those you got on your contact list) about 5 ideas.

Call your internet provider. :D They can set up customized blocking so you can eliminate a lot of this junk.

My problem is actualy because of this one. There is no way to avoid it, is there? :(

My Internet provider has a server-side filtering system, but the variety of conditions it offers is poor, and is not enough for filtering worms.

I think as Bill said it's better to call my Internet provider to ask for a solution.

Well I've got Mozilla Mail 1.4, few spam rulez and good antivirus, and still I've got at least three viruses in month :D

About this mail. i've got 3 mailboxex (all are free!) 2 of them has 10 MB size and one got 30 MB. first mailbox is public. In this mailbox I'vo got mega filtering. spam goes to secont (10 mb) and good stuff goes to big mailbox. unrecognized are still in 1st mailbox. Simply: It's all about lists. Black tist means totally spam white list mean from good people, and not on list means to me that i should once in three day look around on my mailbox.

And this way My windows XP stil stands since 2001!

Hi,

Try these free anti-spam software:

MailWasher. Makes spamers think you no longer exist by Bouncing Back their email so it looks like your address has been closed down!.
http://www.mailwasher.net/

SpamBayes. Opensource anti-spam http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/

You are probably right Johnny_Bit. But it wouldn't hurt to combined
both mozilla and mailwasher.
