The diference between Size and Size on disk

Postby chasoft » December 16th, 2005, 1:22 pm

On the properties dialog of any file or folder. We can see two items: Size and Size on disk. Anybody know why there is "the diference between Size and Size on disk"?

I think the description of Windows regarding Size On Disk is enough.

Maybe that's not enought explayning... Think of it as of beer crate. you've got 20 botles of beer, but in one crate you'll only stuff 16, for rest you've got to employ another one, so beer's in two crates. And why not use crates for multi-beer (in one sector parts of other files)? Well, would you put Heineken and Guiness in same crate?
